courtesy= 0marks

sigh… was reading today’s papers about courtesy in s’pore… i feel so embarrassed for those ppl with 0 courtesy in them. it’s like ‘HELLO!!’ dun you all even know a bit about basic courtesy???! i’m utterly disgusted. not very surprised though… i mean this is Singapore… not that i want to say but ppl here are so self-centered and think the whole world revolves around them. sheesh. i was hoping maybe reader’s digest was wrong but after the ST reporters went ard the island to ‘test’ ppl, the truth is plainly out: Singaporeans are really low on EQ. i wished the reporters did not try to test the ppl, at least i ve the hope that maybe it is juz a wrong judgment by reader’s digest… but i know i will be living in delusion. What really disgusted me was not the "no courtesy" but their response to their lack of courtesy when stopped. if you dun know what i mean read the article in today’s(25 june) life section in ST.
However i do find some ‘tests’ they used that i would not have done anyway… like the asking of which floor the person in the lift wants to go to, i will only do that if the person is very far from the buttons, or have his or her hands full or if the person forgotten to press. i think it is b coz if the person dun press the floor they want to go to, we actually assume that they are going to the same floor as us… and even if we are not sure, we are too embarrassed or soft-spoken to ask.  But the rest of the tests, i found appropriate.
I recently had a very ugly experience in the lift. i pressed the floor i wanted and moved in coz a lot of people were coming in…but when it reached my floor (which apparently no one else wanted to go to…) the lift door opened, the ppl in the lift juz pressed door-close! so i shouted that i wanted to go out (in the midst of the door closing…), and no one even bothered to hold the lift door or press door-open. the ppl in the lift din even bother to say "sorry." i was truly disgusted. this just shows some singaporeans’ attitudes.

gramaphone.

discovered this new place in centerpoint called gramaphone which actually sells cds and vcds and dvds. so was looking for "indiana jones and the last crusade" and "beaches". well we couldnt find it being sold but alas! we found that there were copies of it that could be rented. so we rented them.watched indiana jones on sat, it was really good. very funny. i like sean connery in the show… he is the father of indiana jones… and very comical coz he is not the adventure kind like indy. but he always look so cool as if nothing happened when indy was fighting to save them. like the part when they were in the air plane:
indy:"use the cannon at eleven o’clock"
father: "what happens at eleven o’clock" *pointing to watch*
indy: "10,11,12" *indicating the direction at each time*
a round of shooting… father so engrossed in attacking enemy that he shoots their own plane’s tail
indy: "are we hit?"
father: "more or less" *looking at the damage*
father: "i’m sorry son…(this i when we think he is goin to confess and say he shot their tail, but…)they got us"
so funny. the best indiana jones i ve watched. seriously.
then watched "beaches" yesterday. i must confess i cried during the movie. i mean it was so darned sad! i bet anyone will cry, it is worse then "grave of the fireflies" if you have watched that jap anime. looking for "the cat returns" anime, saw it at the rental at gramphone but i really want my own vcd.

star gazing

went for dinner at yunnan garden restuarant at the new NTU Alumini Club on sat to celebrate father’s day. The place is very very new! can still smell that "new-ness" lol. anyway ate and then wanted to explore the place. And then at the lift saw Tay Ping Hui coming out of the lift. i was trying not to stare but i was in shock, not that i have never seen a celebrity b4 or i am a big tay ping hui fan, but i was just so shocked at his height! so tall. my gosh. anywayz after that went to see the pool, which is really really nice, its like partly indoors. so pretty. 🙂 the tennis courts also looks good in the moonlight. but the club itself is like in the backdoor of the road and it is so dark, with no street lamps, at night!
