din want to wake up this morning. it was a really nice rainy morning to laze around.
i eventually dragged myself out of bed and to school. met yiping in the morning, she said nygh and hc were having combined sports meet today. hence the bus drove up to a very crowded busstop at HCI. had to push myself through the crowd. very noisy.
walked into njc and i realised how quiet njc was, as though i wasnt coming for a school day. ailin felt the same.
aep first period. we tried oils. i think it is not easy to work with. gotta get use to it for UOB, i have to start mindmapping and brainstorming. plus taking photos for it. the question is how do you conjecture up an idea from nothing?
then rushed for bio lecture. and then chem lecture. the usual.
then GP!!! He was nice today. let us watch a documentary on….*drumrolls* Global Warming.
now isnt that very familiar? din i write that for my gp essay? haha. it was really professional and good. it was done by Al Gore. "an inconvenient truth" a really good documentary, but some people in the class did not respond to it like i did. they fell asleep. sze, andrew, aidan and i were diligently copying down notes ok! it is interesting how he present s the problem through cartoons (poor poor polar bear. sighs. and the frog in boiling water! *thinks of Mr Ng’s favourite story-maths tchr from sec 2.*), statistics, jokes, personal recounts, and beautiful images of the earth. it really helps me see how grave the situation looked and helped me understand the geographical aspects of global warming. very interesting. he also brought in the politics and how some facts about global warming was being masked despite every scientist saying it existed. made me feel that Al Gore was like Dr tom stockmann in "an enemy of the people" before everybody knows the truth, one must know it first. he is liek the one man at the outpost standing up for the truth, only that he isnt as badly denounced like dr stockmann. it was an insightful documentary, ’nuff said.
then after that we went off for lunch. then civics.
i realised i had jazznight tonight. yay! a great time to relax? haha. shall go enjoy the show.
(oh… dancefloor champions…Vas And Pris! yesterday’s show was really good. benji schwimmer was great and the group choreography was really good, the one to micheal buble’s ‘everything’. )

managed to finish my gpp draft online for two nights. it was good discussion. even better then in school. i m proud of my group. yay! walt disney rocks! oh our group project is called "who is mister mickey mouse?" NJ072!
watched american idol gives back. big stars. i like josh groban. and the little clips here and there from famous celebrities (david schwimmer, funny ben stiller, jack black. who cant sing. seal. and many more!) were really hilarious. especially ben stiller’s. well, he is a comedian for a reason i guess. and the footages of the trips by the AI judges and host to the poorer parts of america were so so sad. simon looked at a loss of what to say or do. both himself and ryan were too stunned. shock overwhelmed them. the footages were really upsetting.
plus i must commend the producers of the show for being able to not kick out anyone in this episode and pushing back the votes to the next week. a smart move. they will be kicking out two people next week. all in all, the show was a excellentlt thought through one.
And yesterday was spent in a happy, happy mode.
went for pe in the morning. captain’s ball. again.
then maths tutorial. more work to be completed. as usual.
then maths lecture. once again it was back to the bullet train mode and i realised that i almost completely forgot my differentiation knowledge from sec 4. plus there is this part which was meant to be ‘assumed’ knowledge. it wasn’t for the most of us. lecturer said to just accept it and not question like we did in sec 4. in other words, memorise.
then it was bio tutorial. we were early today so we did not get scolded. πŸ˜€
had a free period after that which i spent eating lunch with ailin. plus a bit of ‘shopping’ at the booths set up by this animal rights grp (they had a fake bear caged up with its bile taken out. and with sound effects. it was really sad.) and SPCA.
after that it was free periods all the way as my chem teacher was on course and mr lee asked us to paint our shoe for aep. i sat in the art room with the rest doing bio homework (loads of it as my teacher says that labour day is not meant to be a holiday, it is meant to be a time to catch up on your work. so one question, how do you catch up on your work when all your teachers give you even more work?!) we formed a ‘anti-painting’ club. haha. sze and i are co-founders and ahu and zhi ying are members. seeing how much mr lee dislikes painting too, maybe he would want to join? haha. jianhao is the enemy then. he loves painting. future uob painting winner.
i got bored of biology so decided to play with paint. painted over honghu’s rejected piece. and it actually looks quite ok! my theme is grotesque anyway. so if this weekend doesn’t allow me time to finish another painting of my shoe i m taking that one for submittion.
then decided to join claire and binny to go visit guides at nygh! πŸ™‚ met jaslin (waiting for jo, tifen and sarah.) while waiting for binny at the bus-stop. and met shanru, amanda and allison at nygh. 414 all decided to come back to nygh for certs on the same day! is that class spirit or what?
met anna and regina at nygg activity. i must say that the juniors are very creative with their designs for ‘little ones’. and it is relevant for binny too, as she is taking an early childhood course at ngee ann. we went round to look at the gadgets and listen to their explanations. interesting. met my juniors, there was apparently a big resuffle and sparrow is now left with only 2 original members (xin yun and hui min.) so sad! then went over to flowerpecker and had a warm welcome by zihui and peiling (one from old hibiscus and the other from old sparrow. :)) i miss the two of them. and the rest of my juniors really.
we (edna, junice, litang, claire, binny and i) went down to the canteen to talk a bit before heading for dinner with anna and regina. had a good talk with all of them over dinner and suat lay came too! still looking as stressed as ever. or worse. she is receiving some science research scholarship from ntu. not bad. i miss the gluttons. if only everyone was there. but still, i m contented. πŸ™‚

"we are raising money for the bone marrow donor programme… and are selling these ornaments at $5 each…"
well. the word ‘$5’ is the trigger point. passer-bys would look interested until that taboo word is mentioned.Β what followed would be the swiftΒ shaking of the head.
a very long day selling flower ornaments.
i went around jurong east with shima and hui huan.
we began the session commenting on people and how each person would respond, choosing our targets carefully. a newΒ term i learnt :dao-er. haha. when shima first said it i thought she said "tower" and i was like what. now i know she meant people who would just walk right past you as though you are invisible. we met so….many of such people!Β it was irritating. we found that the best place to sell is outside jurong east library. the people there are more relaxed and leisurely walking so they dont mind being stopped. we got a few good lucks from the shop assisstants at a beauty centre too. πŸ™‚
as time went by, hui huan and i just started asking everybody, even people who we would have at the start deemed as people who will not donate. haha. i guess as she said, our skin just got thicker. πŸ˜›
we managed to sell quite a few though not everything sadly, but still. a pat on the back for the good job done! πŸ™‚ yay!

bio pract.

the horrible horrible end to my perfectly happy day.
had bio pract, we were given 1 hr 20 mins. or there about, most probably less.
i broke a thermometer midway. rushed off to tell my tchr immediately. i got scolded and she said that i have no skill cause i cant even do my SPA skill B properly. i paid up anyway.
continued doing my pract and i faithfully did the experiment twice because the paper said to repeat the experiment again. well. i ran out of time. becoz as calculated, each reading took about 10mins (inclusive of preparation time.) and i had to do 8 readings. that is 1 hr and 20 mins exactally. where is the time to do my report? my friends managed to. i wonder why.
some much for being totally honest. so now that my tchr knows my name (due to the unfortunate accident of having ‘no skill’) she will be totally blacklisting me after seeing my almost empty bio pract report. so much for a nice day before bio pract.
totally demoralising. yu xuan was like me too, unable to write anything in her report. sigh. it reminds me of being in sec 4 again. i remember my chemistry pract with enqi. we would always end up last no matter how fast we did our practical. but at least we finished it on time. i highly suspect that the bio pract was meant to be longer. if not how does one fit in 2 experiments???

hoho. went for napfa five stations in the morning. πŸ™‚ i got gold! for the first time in a long time. haha.

went around the stations with 07s07 girls. and i m proud to say i din cheat (aka repeat over and over for standing board jump. the teacher must know my class for that by now. ) and we just encouraged each other to do better than what we usually do so yay! i got 45cm for my sit and reach. i broke my own record of straight 39cms for the past 4 years. haha. some ppl got the full 30 pts… freak.
anyway was quite happy with the napfa testing but i must say that njc is so ineffective by having the whole cohort of girls do napfa together. we waited for 1hr plus to do sit and reach!! and that was our second station only. had to go in that specific order. and all the testers used purple pen! aerius rocks. haha.

then came back all aching and tired. din managed to do any work before heading for esplanade to watch phantom of the opera! I LOVED IT! glad i did not miss it. the most amazing part of the musical was probably the stage and how it just keep changing conformation and how the phantom just appears everywhere. the sound system was good too, and you can hear the phantom’s singing voice from all over the theatre it is as though we as audience is part of the story and we are in the opera house. nice effect. i liked the start and how the whole set changed from the dull and run-down auction scene to this opera house filled with grandeur. it was amazing. and of course like all musicals, the songs were superb. and familar making it so enjoyable to watch and apparently hum along too. (haha. i found myself doing that softly and apparently the songs had the same effect for the man sitting beside me and the ladies a few rows behind who were still singing and discussing the songs during the intermission.) i was however at certian points of the show comparing it to the film and i felt that the part about the phantom’s past was not very well done. i hoped to know more of the phantom’s past like in the film, it really helps us audience to sympathesize with him. the actors were as usual good but i found myself hoping that i could watch antonio banderas sing the part of the phantom. oh and still cant figure out how the phantom escaped! it was a magic trick of some sort.
i could imagine myself in west end watching the show. talking about west end, it can imagine capitol building as one of those small theatres at west end. like the one where i watched evita. it has the whole look and atmosphere.

tmr is napfa!!! 5 stations. must get silver if not it is mapfa remedial till august!
i hope my standing board jump pass. seriously. why am i 17 years already?!
plus had mr sham for pe today. a lot of sprinting and jumping and push-ups and the worst… ab exercises. cant.. touch…. toes.
then maths tutorial, we were all late for maths after pe. mr lum was late himself. then spent quite some time talking about the game "tower of hanoi" that puzzle game we all played as a child about shifting the rings from pole a to pole c.
then maths lecture. graphing. *zzz insomia therapy. as said by shuwei. it wasnt that bad today though. πŸ™‚
then bio tutorial. she was in a good mood today. πŸ™‚
then free period. ate lunch with ailin and priscilla. ailin’s neck is sprained. hope she gets well soon! in time for tmr’s napfa.
then aep drawing and discussing of chem grp project with priscilla. she said that she wanted to make some noise as the art studio is too silent. i agree. and dark too.
then chem tutorial . it was ok. raining again. she jumped chapters. so we were furiously flipping our booklets.
then free period. went off with honghu, jean and lynette to do aep. ended up with almost the whole aep class doing our still life before sova lesson (which was a long one with many unimportant artists. of the northern renaissance, mannerism.)
art club came next with silk screen, we (sze, long hao and i) did not try because we already did it for VSA.
so went back to art studio to do still life again with honghu and jianhao. we ended up laughing so hard about all sorts of things (e.g. how some teachers never get names right, council in njc, etc. vote for 33 and 85! haha. okay dont vote for them. really dont.) then we were joined by zhiying, jean, yibo and lin ping. left the studio at 7.10. my shadows were getting too dark.

that’s probably the impression the people at moe got after val, sze and i went there to submit our portfolios.
at 12.15 pm, the three of us got sent by mr lee (thank you!) to moe podium block to submit our portfolios.
but first to farrer court as val forgot to bring her cca records, etc. etc.
she brought us food. munched on snacks all the way to moe. then we got off, grabbed our portfolios and mr lee drove off to wait for us around biopolis area. then at the security check. val and i realised we needed our ez-link or nric to get a visitor pass. so mr lee had to drive back to drop-off point for us to collect our ez-link. got our visitor tags and val wanted to sort out her portfolio a bit so we stood at the pillar waiting for her. the security guard must have been wondering what are three njc girls doing with those black (suspicious-looking) cases. then sze realised she left her cca records, etc, etc in mr lee’s car. once again mr lee had to drive to drop off point. he told us later that he kept driving in and out and in and out. how embarassing.
took the lift up and we were led into this incredibly messy office filled with scholarship application forms. stacks and stacks. i cant believe that is what is to become of my application form. chucked and in one of the thick stack of application forms. thin and forgetable. sigh. val realised she did not have one of the forms. so she has to fax it in. she got the fax no from the lady but apparently dropped it as soon as she walked out of the office. lost it so fast! she should had pasted the post-it on her specs or something. haha. we were laughing over how the lady’s reaction would be when she finds the post it on the floor outside the office. she did not answer val’s call. so that is how we made a (not so positive) impression on the people at moe. erps.

long long day.

yesterday was one long day.
had to lug my portfolio all over the school for the whole day (including up 4 levels of stairs for chem.)
everyone was dying to see my work. erms. and everyone tried to carry my portfolio coz i kept complaining about the weight. i think i probably irritated everyone with my complains. sorry! . but there were a few kind souls who offered to help me carry my portfolio. thank you! πŸ™‚
had pe in the morning. 4 rounds on lane 7, then shutter run and some hopping thing. i was tired.
then went for bio lecture and chem lecture. realised that we have a new project for chemistry. on chem bonding. the shape of the covalent compounds. we currently have three people in our grp (priscilla, zhi ying and i.) need one more person at least. sigh. oh and ailin started the ‘free hugs’ thing. i got my free hug! πŸ™‚ it is meant to be be for strangers though. but still. haha.
then lunch ate sandwiches before going to watch MEP’s first lunchtime performance with lynette, jean, ailin and li hui. finally got to hear andrew on the flute. nice! the piano pieces were good too. but i feel so sorry for the last player coz all the people (very very very few…) in the LT were all lookign at their watches instead of really listening due to the overtime. jean, lynette and i ran all the way out of the LT to the canteen for our bags and up 4 levels to chem. din want to be late for her lesson. we still were but she wasnt angry. thankfully. we decided to be more enthu during the lesson to make up for our late coming. she seemed to be happy. πŸ™‚ got back our chem test. i passed. by 1 mark. but i m still happy. πŸ™‚
then had gc. showed some of them my prep work for coursework. they were all lauughing and going "so lame". i know. but it is still cute right?
then pw lecture and then aep. we had sova again. renaissance.donatello, da vinci, michelangelo, raphael, titian. hoho. i m so happy to say that i have actually seen the real works. learnt the deeper meanings of sistine chapel. i feel so sad that i din know it then when i actually saw it at vatican.
then sat at the canteen with long hao and zhi ying. waited for the rest of the rest of the class to come for our dinner. πŸ™‚ andrew was next. then ailin. and jeffrey. long hao and andrew battled it out on pikavolleyball. zhiying was disgusted that we were still playing comp games that only her younger brother played,. *hides face in shame*.decided that everyone else would be late so the five of us headed for kap first. discussing how much ailin looks like (or rather behaves like) fishball. so we started coming up with nicknames for her. FISHBONE! πŸ™‚ haha. sounds cool. when we got there i met hong ling at the busstop!!! havent seen her for so long. i miss the glutts. got my second hug for the day. saw carolyn poon and her sister too. πŸ˜€ did a lot of catching up with hongling while ailin was talking to carolyn. we lost track of time until we heard ‘the bell’ in the background. realised that jeffrey, andrew and long hao were making ‘bell’ noises so that we actually remember that they were still there waiting for our little nygh catching up session. (oh oh…201’04 going back for time capsule opening. if it is not already past our lifetimes.) sorry!
made our way to second level of kapa nd waited a long time before the rest came in drips and draps. first was faisal, then shen chen, daphne, adeline, grace, honghu, aidan (!!), yueh hsin, and qin rui. yepps. not a bad turn out. *pats the organiser on the back. spent our time talking about all sorts of things… pw advice/sharing by our ogls…complaining about tests, suggestion of chalet (by adeline), all sorts really. plus watched dumb youtube videos supplied in bulk by ailin. the japanese inventions one is cool. our eyes were glued to the screen. haha.
now that our mehmeh outing is over next up is 07s07 outing on sat. good turn out please?

back at NYGH

today was a more happy monday than usual!
in the morning sat at the old7s13 table. attempted to do my work. but i couldnt concentrate. then ailin came and presented us all with some very special stickers! so funny. why ‘noobshit’?! but the disney characters is very cute. i helped myself to an eeyore one! i like the bambi ones and the chip and dale ones too! so cute. watched in amusement: ailin attempting to paste one on yaoliang. very amusing. he amanged to get away, so the sticker (which has a very pink piglet) ended up on his waterbottle and he looked super pleased with it. hilarlious.
then first period was aep sova lesson, we are stilll very behind time, it is a bit like mr lim taking us for sova (SLOW!), i miss ms tan’s effective lessons. so we are having somemore sova this thurs. mr lee was asking us how to not show us his speaker’s notes but him being able to see it. kai sheng suggested putting masking tape ont he projecter. BAD idea. mr lee kept going ‘this is so lame’ but in the end he let us see his speaker notes. free for all. haha. we took the time to discuss the europe trip. we will be taking either quantas or singapore airlines! i m happy. no stopover (sorry sze… no stopover in JAPAN>). we will be going with the music ppl. which is essentially andrew and his ‘very good’ friend. hoho. we kept asking if we could choose our room mates. no answer from mr lee. anyway… it sounds really fun so i m looking forward to it. πŸ™‚
then zhi ying and i rushed off to bio lecture. on enyzmes. mr feng’s slides kept getting a bit messed up.
then chem lecture. it was freezing. spent the whole lecture with one of my hand under my file and the other writing. ended the lecture with one warm hand and one freezing hand. oh and i sat beside xiao xi! πŸ™‚ i miss 414. she is in s15 now. BCME>
then went off for GP with Sze and Andrew. we walked right past the class without knowing as our tchr was absent so another tchr came in to tell us our assignment. had to do comprehension. eww. took forever in the transposition. sze finished 3 questions at home. so i struggled with the transposition with someone beside me who breezed through the last few questions. andrew and i kept going "how do you transpose _______?" we did not get our exact answers. i rationalised that there couldnt be two words that meant exactly the same thing if not the second word wont be created. it’s true isnt it? we took forever to finish the summary and the second question then there after we zoomed through the rest. for me because i had already attempted to transpose the rest fo the questions, for andrew because he did not want to be the last to finish. i finished last. and we rushed down for lunch before the rest of the classes were released. short queue. i m happy. πŸ™‚
after that was civics. cultural mapping. i mangaged to answer most of the questions in the questionnaire on bukit timah area. haha. almost every answer of mine went like "nygh" "nygh" "nygh". i miss that place.
and so i went back to nygh, to get back my aep boards. not due to cultural mapping. looked for mr lim only to find out from mrs teo that he was still at moe. so i waited 45 mins while doing maths tutorial at nygh canteen. i miss studying there. very good atmosphere. i saw 2 rjc girls in the distance and then i saw 2 hcjc girls, then 3 njc girls. see how much we love nygh? so many of us actually come back! haha. anyway i met mr lim and he was as usual stressing out for the sec 4 batch (he took over mr ellis’s aep class) but looked happier than the last time i saw him. i see the last minute bug for coursework hasnt hit yet. it will though. every year would be the same. come end of term 3 and into term 4, aep students will all experience a sudden realisation of the little time left to complete the coursework. it is always the same. mr lim wanted me to encourage them to start early (because some of them havent thoguht of any idea) but i was there thinking… i still managed to finish my coursework (starting from scratch) in about a few weeks after my coursework broke. and he said " dont tell them that." lol. i miss aep at nygh. oh and the sec 4 batch this year got an extra paper to their aep! i m so happy i did not have to do it last year! it takes up an extra 3 mths!
